1) TC, JD, and I saved a newborn calf (coal-black) before the coyotes got her last night. Shit was close for a second. Just short of getting my shotgun. (I wouldn’t shoot a coyote but I’ve got no qualms about scaring them away. Ones around here are savage motherfuckers. Big, like wolves. Less and less food around … they’re getting meaner.)

2) Chicks being born in the coop as we speak. Little black banties.

3) It’s HOT. Hot-hot, like one hundred and fucking six. Solution: make blended daiquiris with strawberries and lime, cut off your jeans, put on some Under White Pines, and melt the day away.
